For those of you who have not read/watched/suffered Lord of the Rings or the related books, Galadriel is one of the most shrewd and powerful elves to ever walk Middle-earth. It was generally believed that Sauron would have to show up, in person, if he wanted to conquer/destroy her kingdom and the only reason she'd lose is because his ring trumps hers. In Thedas she will not be anywhere near this powerful and will be deeply reluctant to use the type of magic she's accustomed to (which is, 9 times out of 10, considerably more subtle than Theodosian magics), but you know what they say? Old habits die hard? Well, some of her habits are literally older than the sun, and this is the biggest one:

Mind/Heart/Soul Reading - Ósanwe
(In Quenya this ability is literally called "thought opening".)

Basically, Galadriel is going to try, reflexively, to read your characters unshielded, unfettered desires and proclivities. This ability is going to be a little haywire and unpredictable in Thedas, so there's a few options for how effective you would like it to be, if at all:

Can Galadriel read their active thoughts? - The things they are thinking right now, this instant, as she stares creepily at them?
Can Galadriel read their desires? What they long for most? - The vagueness or specificity of these desires is up to you. Does she know that they miss home? That they crave power? That they long for real, Avvar mead?
Can Galadriel read their fears and sorrows? - Is there any maliciousness or sadistic nature in their soul? Have they been traumatized? Are they really, really afraid of spiders? (Her too. It's a Caliquendi thing.)
Can Galadriel sense the nature of their heart? - What is your character's soul like? Are they kind and good, deep down inside? Are they honestly repentant of bad deeds? Are they not repentant at all? Do they have deep and abiding faith?
Can Galadriel see their memories? - If so, what can she see?

Galadriel has the ability to sense "darkness" in people. This is really fairly literal.

Has your character been corrupted either physically or spiritually? - The Blight, Possession, etc?
Are they still corrupted? - If so, being near or touching Galadriel may have adverse effects on them. Her power is considerably weakened in Thedas but she hates corruption so much that even stuff she's owned briefly can drive out the darkness. Being around her may be uncomfortable, direct physical contact may feel as though it burns.

Is your character a Spirit/a creature without its own body/incarnated in a body that is not theirs?

If your character is a spirit/golem/etc, and it is not otherwise obvious, can she sense it? - Conversely, is their soul so whole and mundane that you would like Galadriel to be surprised to learn they are a golem, as though they weren't made of rocks, plain as day?
Do you want their powers and Galadriel's abilities to have a conflict somewhere? - In Middle-earth there was no one who could read Galadriel's mind, but she couldn't read the minds of creatures without incarnations. How would you like this to work for your character, in Thedas?

You can answer yes or no to these, as you like, or include any caveats you like. If your character has similar abilities or magical abilities that could affect Galadriel, I would be happy to fill out any permissions post you have, just let me know about it.

OOC:

Backtagging: Certainly! I try my best but sometimes I'll open a tag and lose it amid my tabs; if a couple of days have passed with no comment, this has probably happened. I apologize. If you want to tag into something old, please, feel free! I'm never sad to get new tags.
Threadhopping: Have at. If the situation arises and the other person doesn't mind, I'm all for it.
Offensive subjects: I am fine with basically anything? Honestly, I have a propensity to write gore and violence with more description than other people are comfortable with, so if that bothers you let me know? Otherwise there is basically nothing that will really throw me. (I apologize in advance for any cringeworthy, bad-fanfic style descriptions detailing how pretty Galadriel is. She's just canonically really friggin pretty.)

IC:

Hugging this character: If your character is brave or innocent enough to walk up to Galadriel the eerie ancient elf and embrace her, she certainly won't stop them. She'll probably be very nice about it.
Kissing this character: If your character can reach that high. She will be more firm about this, but not unkind in her rebuff.
Flirting with this character: Galadriel will find this adorable, just as she finds all people who get flustered by her adorable. She's been married since the days of dawn, literally, so she doesn't take anything like this seriously and hasn't for thousands of years.
Fighting with this character: Galadriel doesn't get violent often. If your character isn't pulling some serious shit, she probably won't engage at all.
Injuring this character: I'm okay with it but we should probably plan around it. Unless it's a straight up ridiculous accident, Galadriel will be Unhappy.
Killing this character: Please, no.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Her mind doesn't work quite like the people of Thedas, but your character is welcome to. They may end up with Galadriel talking to them in their head, though.
Warnings: If your character rolls the dice and wants to sense stuff about Galadriel, they're welcome to it, but she's been alive a long time and a lot of the stuff she has on her/that is relevant to her as a person is pretty dark and can get fairly horrible/gorey. Just, heads up.

Can Galadriel read their active thoughts? Yep, feel free to pluck anything from small text and assume she knows it

Can Galadriel read their desires? What they long for most? Yep! Again, anything from small text, and if you'd like to know more, hit me up on plurk and I can give you a bunch. The biggest thing is wanting to see his people in a safe, happy and prosperous land, heading towards restoring the civilizations they used to have, even if it's only one really pretty city. He wants to see children running around happy and art being made and elders telling stories and singing songs, and peace, but it's a desire he only wants to see for others. Iorveth does not believe he's capable of being part of that, or that he really should be. He's very much a protector and an avenger, and his entire life has been war, so he doesn't really fit that.

Can Galadriel read their fears and sorrows? Yep yep. Iorveth has been tortured, several times, he's seen a lot of death, he's been basically non-stop at some kind of war for a century, there's a lot of anger and a lot of sorrow in him. He's missing one eye - it was done while being tortured, specifically with the intention to rob him of the natural beauty that elves possess. It was carved out with a fire that was heated in a fire, so it's pretty gross looking and it goes with the long scar on that side of his face. Also, other torture stuff, it's a bad time. Beyond that, elves in his world were decimated by human colonization, have been reduced to the point that they're nearing extinction, treated a lot like Thedas elves now, but there aren't nearly so many of them left. Iorveth is leader of a unit of Scoia'tael - elite elven commando freedom fighters that have gone through a looooot of hell trying to help their people survive better, and find a safe place for them to be able to rebuild without constant threat of being murdered by passing drunk humans.

Can Galadriel sense the nature of their heart? Yep! He is, mostly, a good person. He does some bad things, but for good reasons. He's definitely a racist, and he's pretty violent, but the kind of anger he has in him is like blinding levels of intense. But, it comes from a place of sorrow first, and secondly, pride and hope for his people to survive on.

Can Galadriel see their memories? Go for it! If there were done by anyone besides lmfao a 15,000 year old super elf, he'd probably be offended, but with Galadriel, nah girl, you do your thing. For specific memories and bits, let me know if you want me to give you some good stuff and I can tell you fun stories or something idk.
